Look and Feelcoda-forte-wireless-bluetooth-headphones-blue

The first thing we noticed about the Coda Forte Headphones was the sleek futuristic look and lightweight feel. Zagg has done a great job of walking that tough line between feeling “light” and feeling “cheap.” The soft touch finish over the plastic goes a long way toward achieving that end. The buttons feel crisp and the padding along with headband and around the ears have a good feel, both helping with the overall quality feel of the product. Do they have the feel of premium Bose or Beats headphones? Of course not, but they stand up well in their price range.

Sound Quality

We were a little nervous to hear how the Coda Forte Headphones would actually sound, considering the price tag, but have to say were pleasantly surprised. Not only did they handle higher volumes well with little to no buzz, but the highs were nicely crisp as well. The lows were less impressive, sounding a tad thin to our ears, but well within what we’d consider acceptable. You won’t get the audio quality of wired devices from Bluetooth due to limitations in the technology, but the Coda Forte Headphones come about as close as possible.

Fit and Comfort

The Coda Forte Headphones fit well, comfortably enough over the ear to be worn for extended period of time. The inner ear could use a little more padding over the speaker though, which would improve the overall comfort. All in all, we have no issues with the way the Coda Forte Headphones fit. Again, they’re not premium headphones and don’t feel as such, but they’re just fine.

Features

Coda Forte Headphones use Bluetooth to pair with your mobile device (iPhone, iPad or Android) quickly and easily. We had no issues, and were able to sync them to our Galaxy S III in about ten seconds with flawless audio. We weren’t as lucky pairing the headphones to our Bluetooth enabled Windows desktop however. Audio was extremely choppy to the point of being unusable. When we spoke with a rep at Zagg, we learned that the Coda Forte Headphones do work with Mac OS X, but are not officially supported by Windows. A bummer if you intend on using the Coda Forte Headphones for wireless gaming, but not a deal breaker.

One neat addition to these headphones is an integrated microphone, meaning they can be used to receive calls from your phone just like an in-ear Bluetooth headset. Calls ring through the headphones and connect with the press of the power button, eliminating the need to even remove your phone from your pocket. A test call using this feature came through crisp and clear. And while we’d be a little self conscious using the Coda Fortes to take calls while grocery shopping for example, it’s still a nice little feature.

As we’ve mentioned several times in this review, the Coda Forte Headphones are not the best sounding or best looking headphones on the market, but they’re a great deal for the money. We’d be satisfied with wired headphones of this quality at this price, so the additional Bluetooth functionality and integrated mic only add to the extreme value here. For us, the Coda Fortes are a must buy if you’re in the market for a pair of Bluetooth headphones. We’re happy to award them our Editors’ Choice.
